Gizoo's Eco Category, which launched last month, is now well established within our website, and we are delighted to say, is attracting lots of attention. Bestsellers include the Intelliplug, which saves energy and money by turning off computer peripherals when you turn off your computer, a Wind Up Lantern, which requires no batteries and produces 30 minutes bright LED light from a 1-minute wind, and the Eco Kettle, which boils the exact amount of water you need. It may have been the launch of the Playstation 3 that's held gamers in a mind-splitting state of anticipation over recent months, but it's Nintendo's revolutionary Wii that's proving to be the more coveted console. And for those that can't tell your classic controller from your nunchuck, let Gizoo explain all... What is all the excitement about? Rather than compete in the ongoing graphics battle of the rest of the big guns, Nintendo grappled the gaming market from a totally different angle, namely motion-sensitive gameplay. Thanks to a Sensor Panel and unique technology used in the infamous wireless Wii remote, the remote acts as your tool or weapon, depending on the action of the game. From bowling and tennis in Wii Sports or spin sword attacks in Zelda, the motion-sensitive remotes deliver an interactive gaming experience like no other. How does it work? There have been many whispers and much speculation on the technology behind the Wii Remote and how it accomplishes motion sensitive gameplay, but there seems to be one common consensus; the Remote comprises two existing technologies used in a new way. First you have an IR (infrared) output from the sensor bar that is seen by receivers in the front of the controller to detect where you are pointing it. Bluetooth in the controller sends the IR pointing data and motion sensing data back to the Wii console. As long as you are within range of the IR reader it can tell where about you are pointing the remote on the screen. The second technology is motion sensors. This is achieved by solid state accelerometers, which detect motion through the acceleration of the controller. Who would want one? Unlike any of the larger consoles, the Wii's target audience is vast. Children and parents alike can immerse themselves in the Wii's inventive gameplay, making it the most accessible console to date. Hardcore and casual gamers alike are loving it! Is it worth it? Believe the hype. The Wii is heaps of fun, particularly when there is a group of you playing, and offers interactive gaming like never before. And the best bit?
