With over fifty years experience in manufacturing cameras, Praktica have produced the Luxmedia 4008, a 4.2 megapixel digital camera with a massive 8 x optical zoom, enabling you to take sharp pictures that will produce professional looking prints. A robust body protects the compact technology, which covers the requirements of even ambitious photographers making this versatile digital camera perfect for amateurs and semi-professional alike. With 8 x Optical Zoom, you have the ability to perfectly frame your portraits and get closer to the action, making the Luxmedia 4008 the ideal digital camera for taking wildlife photos or pictures at sporting events, where you can't get up close.

The light intensive lens with 8 x optical zoom delivers brilliant pictures in 4.2 mega pixel CCD quality and with 16MB built-in memory you can start snapping as soon as you open the box and preview your pictures on the 1.6" coloured TFT-display, which shows off your handiwork in impressive sharp, high contrast. The Praktica Luxmedia 4008 is also compatible with both SD and MM Memory Cards, so if you're off on holiday and want the ability to take more pictures before you need to download to your PC, you have the option to increase your memory.

So, if you want to make the transition from a 35mm to a digital camera, the Praktica Luxmedia 4008 has the look, feel and features of an SLR camera coupled with up-to-the-minute digital technology. There's a pop-up flash, 4 x Digital Zoom, 11/2" preview screen, automatic and manual settings and the 4.2 million pixel sensor resolution extrapolates to 8 million using the software provided.

At its furthest extension, the 320mm focal length will prove useful for pulling in distant objects and even small animals and birds. It also has a relatively large maximum aperture of f 2.8 - f 3.4 that will not only enable photography in low light, but can give sharp subjects that will be clearly separated from blurred fuzzy backgrounds. The Movie and Audio mode allows you to use the camera as a movie and audio recorder so you can experiment with some short movie clips and you can connect the camera to your PC to download the photos and even edit them, adding some basic effects with the software included. The Praktica Luxmedia 4008 also comes complete with USB cable, video cable and shoulder strap, so stick with tradition and go digital!
