Well some fishing enthusiasts have tackled this issue head on and invented a nifty solution that side-steps this age-old issue very craftily...
The Pen Fishing Rod Set is an extraordinary outdoor gadget that gives you a good quality telescopic fishing rod which retracts neatly into an 8 inch pen you can carry in your pocket or pop in the glovebox of your car. The ingenious collapsible pen fishing rod is built using a tough yet lightweight aluminium alloy, with seven fibreglass draws that extend into a 1.2 metre (4 ft) sturdy fishing rod.
The reel is detachable and comes with a reversible ratchet for right handers and lefties, as well as a line brake and clutch. You also receive 25 metres (75 ft) of fishing line to play with, which has a breaking strength of 2.5kgs (5 lbs) - perfect for beginners and small and medium-sized lakes.
